Ceramic Coating FAQs

Q: Wax or Ceramic Coating?

Should you use wax or ceramic coatings? Which is the better alternative and what is the difference. These are questions that are commonly asked when it comes to the auto detailing industry. It makes sense that there is a lot of confusion around car waxes compared to ceramic coatings, especially since these two can be used together to keep your vehicle's exterior protected.

Q: What is wax?

Wax is used as a protective barrier between your vehicle's paint and the environmental conditions. The most common types of waxes used in the industry are montan, paraffin, and carnauba. These are typically blended with solvents to make it easier to apply onto your vehicle's exterior. On average, wax can offer protection to your vehicle for as long as three to five weeks. However, some waxes can offer protection in the range of four to six months.

Q: What is a Ceramic coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid-applied protective layer designed to support gloss, water behavior, and routine maintenance. It can help reduce the impact of common contamination, but it does not make paint immune to etching, chips, scratches, or UV exposure. Regular washing and care remain important.

Q: Wax vs. Ceramic Coating: Which Is the Better Solution?

It depends on your goals, budget, and maintenance plan. Wax is a shorter-term option; a coating is a longer-term service with package-specific care and warranty requirements. Neither product makes the paint maintenance-free or prevents every form of damage.

Q: Why do you need it?

Having a ceramic coating on your vehicle is the perfect way to enjoy an extra layer of protection. Whether your goal is to protect your vehicle from harmful UV rays, bird droppings, and chemical stains, make sure there's a deep shine so it looks its best, or to make it easier to clean, you're in luck. Simply put, ceramic car coatings are a great way to help keep your car looking as good as (or better than!) new while also ensuring that you have minimal maintenance to complete.

Q: How long does it last?

Service life depends on the selected package, vehicle use, storage, maintenance, and environmental exposure. Periodic washing and decontamination help preserve performance. We review the applicable care plan and written warranty terms before service.

Q: How does it work?

The coating is applied to prepared surfaces and allowed to cure according to the product process. It is designed to remain on the paint with proper care, but it is not permanent and it does not eliminate maintenance or the possibility of surface damage.

Q: Is there a warranty?

Eligible packages include product-specific limited warranty coverage. Duration, eligibility, exclusions, registration, and maintenance requirements vary by package; we provide the applicable written terms before work begins. Contact us to review coverage for your vehicle.

Q: Is ceramic coating scratch-proof?

No. Ceramic coating is not scratch-proof, chip-proof, or impact-proof. It may help reduce routine marring with proper washing, but it does not replace paint protection film or safe maintenance practices.

Q: I have a ceramic coating — so I never have to wash my car again?

No, you will still need to wash your car. The more we maintain the ceramic coating with regular washes, the fewer contaminations will embed into and clog up the ceramic coating performance. A ceramic coating does need to be washed because this coating will ensure that the vehicle stays cleaner longer, is easier to maintain, and you don't have to deal with all of the extra maintenance like waxing, polishing, and worrying about harsh elements your vehicle faces day in and day out.

Carfax Activated Warranty

Eligible packages may include a Carfax-activated warranty. Activation timing, coverage, exclusions, registration, and maintenance requirements are governed by the applicable written terms.

Warranty coverage is product- and package-specific; it is not a guarantee against every environmental condition or form of damage.

Please contact us to review the written warranty information for your selected package.
